PBL3 had it´s first webmeeting for Topic 1 yesterday and it didn´t turn out well.
First there was a bit of a technical problems for a few members. Then our discussions didn´t went on smoothly. In lack of a strategic plan and focused questions the discussions turned into a sort of collapse. After a while no one had anything to say and I got stressed. Maybe that´s the point but I didn´t like it. Me and Maria U. was "leader" for this meeting and both of us had prepared for it. I had prepared questions for the meeting but I was to dizzy in my thoughts during the meeting that I couldn´t bring them up. After the meeting I really felt like shit. Even though I´ve tried to prepare my ideas around the FISh-model I couldn´t fit in the scenario for us to discuss. Some sort of a collapse while on Adobe Connect. I really liked the videos that was given to us for this topic. David White´s two videos, Visitors and residents (part 1) and Visitors and residents – Credibility (part 2)
, are real interesting. Especially I like the schedule he draws up when talking about the four elements on how many people uses the web. (See picture below!) Of course the question tunrns up on how we can get these people to interact more in the residental and instituitional fieled.

I think you really did a great job in the meeting and you had also prepared it well. You really tried to steer us in the right direction, but it was difficult when neither of us knew the FISH method and how we would apply it to the scenario. I think it would be great if we had some guidance to get started. We may take this as a good experience (even if it maybe doesn´t feel like this at the moment) and hope that it will work better next time. Technical problems also make it harder to discuss. SvaraRaderaIt was indeed a difficult first meeting. I had so much trouble with my connection. Fell off the meeting several times. So my input was next to nothing.
SvaraRaderaBut we managed to organize ourselves and get going in the second meeting. Must admit that it´s not an easy format. At least I need to practise more on how to participate in an online meeting. Like how to address when I want to say that I agree something, but really don't have anything to add. Just confirm that previous speaker had a valid point. A nod in a real-life meeting is enough.
But it's certainly going to be interesting to see how our PBL-groups joint task will look like.

RaderaHi Urban. Technical challenges remain as we connect more and more through online tools. Learning how to discuss topics in the midst of interrupted connections and poor audio, with a team that you are still getting to know, can be really difficult and well done for persevering! I did find in our group that the challenges were frustrating but then actually resulted in innovation as we started typing comments into our Google docs during our meetings and including those who could not connect to the call or hear our discussions. In the end, it was rewarding to see us find a way to work together regardless of the tech and also because of the tech :)
